This Surgical Outreach week 10 held at Ruhengeri hospital is the outgoing step forward of the continious outreach program to reach approximately 4450 patients in total who benefited from treatment since June 2015 when the special Surgical Outreach Program was initiated.

The purpose of this outreach program is to move towards patients, operate them near their homes and relatives, to take advantages of theater space and hospital wards available in provincial and district hospitals in order to decrease significantly the long waiting list, transfer knowledge to local staff for a better management of patients in the future.

To run smoothly this operation, patients were requested to bring all their medical documents including the diagnosis paper, transfer and medical insurance-“Mutuelle de Sante” .

The Special Surgical Outreach Program was initiated by CHUK with the support of the Ministry of Health and the launching took place at Musanze on June 15th 2015.
