Overview

  • The prime function of a public relations and communication officer (PRCO) at CHUK is to create, maintain and enhance the reputation of the hospital working under senior management authority in collaboration with Communication Steering Committee and Event Management Committee of CHUK.
  • It is the responsibility of the PRCO to promote the people, medical services or best practices of the CHUK by continuously work towards creating and ameliorating the helpfulness of the health facility in creating a favourable public image of the hospital by strengthening its credibility.
  • The PRCO must arrange Media Coverage and Press conference: He has to prepare a press kit for the journalists, which includes a press release, providing details of the event or medical activity - Coordinating Interview for senior management Committee members and heads of clinical departments or specialist doctors to deliver interviews to newspapers, magazines, Radio and television channels. In this regards he will be responsible to facilitate health related reporting or health Radio-Tv programs.
  • The PRCO of the hospital will have to coordinate internal communication between the senior management, heads of departments and staff. To make sure important senior management decisions are communicated to the staff using hospital channels of communication.
  • Proper internal communication face to reorganization, reform and changes in hospital (new management team, leaflet to all personnel).
  • Plan and develop Health information and Health Education materials and implement activities designed to improve understanding and acceptance of the CHUK’s policies, objectives, strategies and services: Prepare and implement health video productions, photo sessions and public relations events such Open Day for public awareness of the hospital vision and services to the community.
  • PRCO has to make sure patients have effective services at the hospital: clear directions to reach the services they need, make sure there is proper communication between services providers, doctors nurses and patients…Be in touch with patients associations- customer care and Social services.
  • Proper information given gently , PRCO is also a channel to revitalize proactive dynamism to move forward for good decisions making face to challenges…Be in touch with Media Houses, different partners and organizations in health sector to promote hospital activities and its image.
  • Development of ICT tactics for the relooking of the hospital synergy thru web site and social media… Use web site to educate as good Percentage(58%) showed that health info they have has influence to Their treatment decisions…cooperation with private specialist doctors national level and overseas- Plus info – Special site for particulars diseases (Diabetis,Cancer,CVD) Social media constitutes a new public relations tool that affects many aspects of hospital organization: internal operations, branding, social responsibility and crises communication actions.
